WINE BOTTLE LABELLING AND WAXING MACHINES

bouteilles de vin étiquetées par étiqueteuse OKJ

As a French manufacturer of self-adhesive labelling machines and automatic waxing machines, OKJ Concept supports wineries, winegrowers, wine merchants and wine producers with bottle finishing solutions. From applying front and back labels to waxing corks, we design solutions tailored to bottle formats, technical requirements and production speeds.

Our machines are designed and manufactured in France. We provide a tailored approach that includes assessing your requirements, adapting the machine configuration, delivery, installation and on-site training. Our labelling machines can reach speeds of up to 3,000 bottles per hour, while our automatic waxing machine can process up to 2,500 bottles per hour, depending on operating conditions and the configuration selected.

Our goal is to provide wine professionals with reliable equipment suited to their operations, backed by responsive after-sales service.

Labelling solutions tailored to wineries

Wine bottle labelling plays an important role in presenting a wine, identifying the producer and enhancing brand recognition. Requirements vary from one winery to another and may include applying a front label, adding a back label, labelling the neck or applying several labels to the same bottle.

OKJ Concept manufactures self-adhesive labelling machines designed to meet the needs of wine industry professionals. Each project is assessed according to the bottles being used, label dimensions, the number of labelling stations required and the desired production speed.

Depending on the configuration, our machines can handle:

  • Applying a main label to the front of the bottle.

  • Applying a back label to the rear of the bottle.

  • Adding a neck label or neck collar.

  • Applying strips and other decorative labelling elements.

  • Combining several labelling stations on a single machine.

  • Adapting the equipment to different bottle formats, depending on the technical configuration selected.

OKJ Concept models, including the MILA and MEDIUM ranges, offer different configurations to meet these requirements. The choice of machine depends on the number of labels to be applied, their positioning, bottle formats and the required production speed.

Looking for a wine bottle labelling machine for your winery? OKJ Concept will assess your project to identify the most suitable configuration for your production needs.

How to choose a wine bottle labelling machine

Choosing an automatic labelling machine for a winery involves more than simply considering production speed. Several criteria must be taken into account to select equipment that suits the winery's operations.

Production volume. A winery labelling a few thousand bottles a year will not necessarily have the same requirements as a producer preparing large volumes across several wine ranges. The machine's maximum speed must be considered in relation to the actual production rate.

Number of labels per bottle. A bottle with a front label requires a different configuration from one featuring a main label, a back label and a neck collar. The number and arrangement of labelling stations depend on the desired result.

Bottle formats. Bottle dimensions, shapes and variations in format must be considered when designing the configuration. Compatibility with different formats and changeover procedures should be checked for each machine.

Labels used. Label format, dimensions, material and other characteristics influence the settings and equipment required for accurate application.

Future production needs. It is also worth anticipating future requirements, such as new wine ranges, additional bottle formats, the addition of a back label or an increase in production volume.

At OKJ Concept, these factors are assessed to provide a solution that meets the winery's production requirements, rather than a standard machine that may only partially meet its needs.

An automatic waxing machine for wine bottles

Alongside its labelling solutions, OKJ Concept offers the Wax 4.1, an automatic waxing machine developed in 2014 in partnership with a winegrower. This patented machine applies a layer of wax to the top of the cork, creating a distinctive finish for wine bottles.

Waxing can serve several purposes: enhancing the presentation of a wine, covering the top of the cork and giving the bottle a distinctive finish. Wax can also provide a visual indicator that may help deter certain counterfeiting attempts.

The Wax 4.1 is designed to reach speeds of up to 2,500 bottles per hour, depending on production conditions and machine settings.

  • Consistent application: automate the waxing process to achieve a uniform finish across treated bottles.

  • Enhancing wine presentation: create a distinctive finish for bottles that require a particular presentation.

  • Cork protection: cover the top of the cork with a layer of wax.

  • Customisation: consider a specific finish, including the use of a customised stamp where suitable.

  • Automation: reduce manual operations when production volumes justify the use of automatic equipment.

Waxing can also be considered as an alternative to certain traditional bottle capsules. Its economic and environmental benefits depend on factors such as the cost of the wax, the capsules being replaced, the volume processed and the specific requirements of the project.

To determine whether the Wax 4.1 is suitable for your winery, we recommend assessing your production speed, bottle formats, cork type and desired finish.
