LABELLING MACHINES FOR SPIRITS AND ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

spiritueux et boissons alcoolisées étiquetés par étiqueteuse OKJ

Bottle labelling is an essential stage in the packaging of spirits and alcoholic beverages. Whisky, rum, gin, vodka, liqueurs and eaux-de-vie all have their own characteristics, with bottle shapes, label formats and presentation requirements varying from one producer to another.

Distilleries and spirits producers need to identify their products while ensuring an attractive presentation. The labelling machine must therefore be adapted to the bottles used, the number of labels to apply and the required production speed.

OKJ Concept designs and manufactures customisable self-adhesive labelling machines in France, for professionals in the beverage industry. Different labelling configurations can be considered to meet the needs of each distillery or producer.

Labelling spirits bottles: what are the options?

Depending on the product and the desired presentation, a spirits bottle may require several labels. OKJ Concept labelling machines can be configured for different applications:

  • Front label: identifies the product and showcases the brand on the front of the bottle.

  • Back label: applied to the rear of the bottle to display additional information.

  • Neck label: applied around the neck of the bottle, depending on its shape and the selected configuration.

  • Strip label: application of a paper strip or specific label, depending on the project.

  • Multi-station configurations: combining several labelling stations to apply different labels to the same bottle.

The available options depend on the bottle geometry, label dimensions and positioning requirements. A technical assessment helps determine the appropriate configuration for each application.

Applying shrink capsules to bottles

In addition to labelling, some spirits bottles can be fitted with a heat-shrink capsule around the neck and closure. This type of finish is commonly used on rum bottles and other spirits to enhance their presentation.

The feasibility and application process depend on the type of capsule, the bottle and the desired result.

How do you choose a labelling machine for a distillery?

Choosing a labelling machine depends on the characteristics of the bottles and the production objectives. Several criteria need to be considered:

  • Bottle shape: height, diameter, shoulder design and overall geometry influence how the bottle is held and positioned during labelling.

  • Number of labels: a single front label or a combination of several labels.

  • Label characteristics: dimensions, shapes, materials and adhesive properties.

  • Production speed: required output and the number of operations to be performed.

  • Range of products: ability to handle different bottle formats and production changeovers.

  • Workshop layout: available space and integration of the machine into the packaging process.

These factors help determine the most suitable configuration for each distillery or alcoholic beverage producer.

OKJ Concept's MILA and MEDIUM labelling machines

OKJ Concept offers the MILA and MEDIUM ranges of labelling machines to meet a variety of labelling requirements.

Machines can be configured according to the required applications, the number of stations needed and production constraints. A technical assessment helps verify compatibility with the bottles and labels being used.

Depending on the configuration and operating conditions, OKJ Concept labelling machines can reach a maximum stated output of 3,000 bottles per hour. Actual output depends on factors such as bottle format, the number of labels and the operations to be performed.

French manufacturing and technical support

OKJ Concept supports professionals in selecting and implementing their labelling equipment. Each project is assessed according to production requirements, technical constraints and the bottle formats used.

Support includes configuration planning, delivery, on-site installation and training, as well as after-sales service.
